Image-Activated Cell Sorting (IACS) is a single-cell sorting approach that uses real-time microscopic imaging to identify and sort cells or droplets based on detailed visual characteristics such as morphology structure and functional behavior rather than relying only on bulk signals like fluorescence intensity. By combining high-speed imaging microfluidics and automated analysis IACS enables selection of cells with rich phenotypic information at meaningful throughput.
